In paper 2, I choose “Living with music” by Ralph Ellison and “Missing Sounds of New York: An Auditory Love Letter to New Yorkers” to show how they represent the significance of sound, also we can’t live without sound. Although some sounds are not appreciated, when people transform these sounds into music listening that gives us more than just an auditory but immersive experience. “Missing Sounds of New York: An Auditory Love Letter to New Yorkers”gives some common but often overlooked voice in our lives, and connects New Yorkers around the sounds of urban life. Very interesting note on how sounds that become ignored can later become appreciated when integrated into a musical composition. They give us a feeling of a shared human experience, triggering an almost bonding like chemistry in our bodies.
